IELTS writing Task-2 |
In the IELTS writing module, there are two tasks that must be completed in 60 minutes.
In task 2, you will be given a point of view, an argument, or an issue to discuss. In around 40 minutes, you must write at least 250 words.
Your answer must be written in complete sentences on the answer sheet. Your answer must not be written as notes or bullet points. You are allowed to write notes on the question paper, but the examiner will not see them.
Here is a list of important task 2 topics, which you can prepare:
1. Many people believe that bicycle is a healthy and environmentally-friendly mode of transport. However, it is no longer the main form of transport. What are the reasons? What could be done to encourage the use of bicycles among the wider population?
2. The cultures of many countries around the world become more similar than they used to be. What are the reasons for this trend? Is it positive or negative?
3. More and more people no longer
read the newspaper or watch TV programs to get news. They get news about the
world through the internet. Is this a positive or negative development?
4. Health experts claim that
walking is the best exercise. However, people are walking less on a daily
basis. What has made this happen and how to deal with it?
5. Some people think that
spending a lot on holding wedding parties, birthday parties, and other
celebrations is just a waste of money. Others think that these are necessary
for individuals and society. Discuss both views, and give your opinion.
6. Today due to advanced
medicine, people are living longer. Therefore, the number of elders is expected
to exceed that of young people. Do the advantages of this development outweigh
the disadvantages?
7. Some people believe that if a
police officer carries guns, it can encourage a higher level of violence. To
what extent do you agree or disagree?
8. In many countries, the legal
driving age is 18 years old. Some people believe it is the right age to learn
how to drive a car, whereas others say that the minimum age should be 25.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
9. Due to advances in science and
technology, the lifestyle of people everywhere in the world has become similar.
Is this a positive or negative development?
10. In some countries around the
world men and women are having children at a later age than in the past. What
are the reasons for this development? What are the effects on society and
family life?
11. Nowadays many young people
spend their free time in shopping centers. This has a negative effect on youths
and society. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
12. Many animals are endangered.
Some people argue that we should only protect animals that are useful to
humans. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
13. Water scarcity is a serious
problem in many countries. What are the causes of this?And what solutions can be done by individuals and the government?
14. Some people believe that
educational qualifications always bring success, while others disagree. Discuss
both views and give your own opinion.
15. Parents should encourage
children to spend less time studying and more time doing physical activities.

17. People used to live in the
same city throughout their lives, but now they change where they live several

19. Nowadays, it is more
convenient and easier for people to travel to other countries. Is this a

21. Many claim that the fast food
industry had a negative effect on the environment, eating habits, and families.
